Becoming a Member of the Association

Who Can Become a Member?

The Association will accept applications for membership from tenants and members of their household, owners and Glasgow Housing Association tenants living in the area and people involved in other local organisations up to a maximum of two per household.

The Association rules state that members must be 16 years of age. The Associations rules also states that no person under the age of 18 can be a member of the Management Committee. To avoid discrimination the committee will allow any tenant under the age of 18 to attend meetings as an observer.

What does it cost?

It costs £1.00 to become a member of the Association. Your membership is cancelled under certain circumstances and these are outlined in our rules leave the Ruchazie area or upon the death of a member.

What does being a member mean?

If you become a member you do not have to actively participate in the running of the Association but we will keep you informed at all times of the Associations activities.

If you wish to actively participate then you can contact the Association to ask to become a committee member at any time. If you chose this option you will be co-opted onto the committee until the next Annual General Meeting and will then be elected as a full committee member.

You may also put yourself forward to become an elected committee member at the Annual General Meeting as long as you are proposed and seconded by any two existing members.
